Corelab is the design spin-off of the consultancy company Coreconsulting. The core business (pun unavoidable) is consultancy around HR topics: internal education, internal communication, ...

A cool project I worked on here:

Re-design of the internal communication and organization platform (intranet) for Iren, a multi-utility Group made of tens of smaller companies, with more than 9.000 total employees.

Why was it cool to work on this
We had to design for both the product owners (editorial and communication team) and the end-users (the employees), which posed a double challenge. Another element of complexity (= fun) is that the end user is extremely diversified: technicians, managers, field workers, engineers, from all of Italy.
Process-wise this project was very interesting too, we worked with an Agile settings organized around bi-weekly sprints with regular meetings with key stakeholders.

What did I do
  • Co-design sessions with the client;
  • benchmark and inspirational research;
  • User research (interviews and focus groups);
  • UX design (Information Architecture and structure of the platform, wireframing, user flows, microcopy);
  • collaborated with the UI designer process in building the design system;
  • building and maintaining the digital prototype;
  • user testing;
  • writing part of the specification documents and general communication with the engineering team who made it real;
  • prepared and carried out educational activities with the internal editorial team in charge of using the platform.
Both testing of the information architecture (here censored),
and of the interface

I'm currently working in Corelab as UX designer
Quite the task
Another cool project I worked on here

Our client, Unioncamere, collects a huge number of data, some of which show insightful connections between the professional world and the academic world. The goal of the project was to create a platform to allow high-school and middle-school students (and their support figures - in particular the parents, teachers and school counselors) to access and understand the numbers.

Why was it cool to work on this
It was very challenging to first of all decipher all the data and numbers; then re-purpose and organize them finding the balance between too-much and too-little information, between over and under-explaining
I'm proud of this work, I think it can really be useful - and we received very positive feedback from them after the publication.

What did I do
  • user interviews;
  • benchmark and inspirational research;
  • UX design (Information Architecture and structure of the platform, wireframing, user flows, microcopy);
  • user testing;
  • support to the implementation team: technical documents and general communication with the engineering team who made it real

I am enjoying the complexity of all the projects we work on, and how much I am pushing the boundaries of what I do. Some of the activities I carry out - outside of the more typical UX work - are: product ownership, technical specification and documents, UX writing.
I additionally have responsibilities as Product owner Project management across different projects.
Main things I learnt
Cooperating with developers on an evolving product setting,
and I am involved in the business side of the gradual development

What am I doing
  • 360° design: main mind behind the service implementation: UX, UX writing, UI as part of a consolidated team of two
+
  • Technical documentation
  • Product ownership and management of the constant product evolution
  • Client presentation
Currenty working on:
The design of a white label corporate education platform.
I am acting as UX lead and product owner, following everything from the design to the implementation. The platform has to be customizable in terms of features (courses formats, blogs, games, overall structure, ... ) and branding.

Why was it cool to work on this
It's a very challenging project. It needs to balance an "infinite" amount of configurations and customizations in terms of visual identity and features; balance the customization options for the admin with the ease of configuration (also avoinding the admin to make mistake in this phase); and of course make sure that every alternative final experience is clear, pleasant, coherent for the end user.
